IHC staining of purified anti-FOLR1 (Folate Binding Protein) antibody (clone LK26) on frozen human placenta tissue. The tissue was incubated with a 1:40 dilution of the primary antibody overnight at 4°C. BioLegend's Ultra-Streptavidin (USA) HRP kit (Multi-Species, DAB, Cat. No. 929901) was used for detection followed by hematoxylin counterstaining, according to the protocol provided. The image was captured with a 40X objective. Scale bar: 50 µm

Description

Folate receptor (FOLR1), also known as folate receptor alpha, is a folate-binding protein (FBP) expressed in adults. It has high affinity for folic acid and its metabolites, including 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTF), the biologically active form of folic acid used for DNA synthesis and the cysteine cycle. FOLR1 mediates intracellular delivery of 5-MTF. FOLR1 is overexpressed in a variety of tumors, including breast, colorectal, and brain.
