Learn more about the mechanisms and research applications driving discovery in cancer research.

Our scientists have developed a wide array of cancer-focused reagents and resources for many applications including single-cell multiomics, flow cytometry, western blotting, and recombinant proteins for cell differentiation.

Applications

PBMCs from two donor samples were mixed together, stained with TotalSeq™️-D antibodies, and run on Mission Bio's Tapestri platform. Heatmap visualization reveals the power to obtain genotype and phenotype from the same cells across thousands of cells.

TotalSeq™ Single-Cell Multiomics and the Heme Oncology Cocktail

Combine single-cell DNA analysis with protein detection using TotalSeq™️-D oligo-conjugated reagents. These antibodies and pre-titrated cocktails are constructed for compatibility with the Mission Bio Tapestri platform to enable the co-detection of SNVs/indels, CNVs, and proteins.

The Heme Oncology Cocktail has been designed to react with 45 unique cell surface antigens, including principal lineage antigens, and includes 3 isotype controls.

Cancer Biomarkers and Immunoassays

In cancer states, measuring soluble biomarkers is important in understanding immune states, tumor status, or tumor environments. Cancer biomarkers are molecules or proteins detectable in blood, tissues, or bodily fluids that indicate the presence or progression of cancer. Biomarkers like PD-L1, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and lactate dehydrogenase can be used to assess the condition of the cancer and its response to treatment.

Measure cancer markers in biological samples with ELISAs and LEGENDplex™ multiplex assays that can be preassembled or customized to include specific targets of interest.

LEGENDplex™ bead-based immunoassays quantify multiple soluble analytes simultaneously in biological samples using a flow cytometer. LEGENDplex™ kits are provided with predefined panels, ranging from 3 to 14 specificities. Alternatively, customers can mix and match any subset within each predefined panel using our mix and match system.

Our LEGENDplex™ Human Angiogenesis Panel can be used to detect various factors and cytokines involved in cell adhesion and angiogenesis.

Microscopy

Microscopy is a valuable tool for assessing various tissues and cell types for markers of interest and for monitoring phenotypes of cancerous cells. We provide an extensive selection of directly conjugated antibodies as well as non-antibody chemical probes that assess a variety of functions like viability and proliferation. In addition, Ce3D™ Tissue Clearing Kits generate mesmerizing 3D microscopy images for those looking to elevate their data.

Cell Cycle

The cell cycle controls the replication of cells, and its checkpoints are strictly regulated to prevent abnormal cell proliferation. Proteins like cyclins, cyclin-dependent kinases, and p53 play important roles in cell cycle progression or arrest, and their dysfunction can be associated with tumor growth.

IHC staining of anti-TFEB antibody on renal carcinoma tissue. Sodium Citrate H.I.E.R. was used for antigen retrieval followed by primary antibody incubation and Ultra Streptavidin (USA) HRP Detection Kit with Hematoxylin counterstaining. Scale Bar: 50 µm.

IHC staining using purified anti-Bcl-2 on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tonsil tissue followed by Alexa Fluor® 647 goat anti-mouse IgG (yellow). Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (blue). Scale bar: 50 µm

Apoptosis

Tumor suppressors are proteins that inhibit cell growth through mechanisms like cell cycle arrest, apoptosis induction, and blocking cell survival signaling pathways. Well-characterized tumor suppressors include PTEN, Rb, and p53 – mutations in the genes that encode these proteins have been associated with cancers.

Bcl-2 is a conserved anti-apoptotic protein that plays important roles in normal immunity. This protein regulates apoptosis through controlling mitochondrial fusion and fission. Chromosome 18q21.3 translocation and overexpression of Bcl-2 is frequently observed in follicular lymphomas and some diffuse large B-cell lymphomas.

Cell Sorting

MojoSort™ is our magnetic cell separation system for the isolation and purification of cells from heterogeneous populations. MojoSort™ Nanobeads are magnetic particles directly conjugated to antibodies or Streptavidin. MojoSort™ Isolation Kits contain a biotin-antibody cocktail and Streptavidin Nanobeads, intended to isolate a cell population.

Epigenetics

Epigenetics is the study of the mechanisms that control DNA compaction and the accessibility of genes to transcriptional machinery and gene expression. Aberrant modifications of DNA and histones, as well as dysfunction of histone deacetylases (HDACs), have been associated with tumor development.

Phosphorylation

Phosphorylation is important in a number of cancer-related processes. It is involved in the control of proliferation, oncogenic kinase signaling, transcriptional regulation, p53 tumor suppressing activity, and many other processes. We offer a wide array of phospho protein-specific antibody products for use in flow cytometry, western blot, and microscopy applications.
